All kinds of physical, chemical and biological factors that negatively affect the health of the employees and are exposed to in the working environment are considered as work hygiene. These effects; They can appear in many types such as dust, gas, steam, noise, radiation, vibration, heavy metals, temperature, ergonomics, viruses. The employer is responsible for limiting all these negative effects.
Environments where there is a risk of creating an impact on occupational hygiene will be determined by occupational safety experts, authorized measurement companies and workplace physicians, as well as the warnings of employees. In risky environments, measurements should be made by institutions authorized by the ministry. These measurements are stored in the ministry database. Employee health negativities caused by these effects are not only the subject of occupational diseases, but also the subject of evaluation on the date of detection or during the liability periods determined by the ministry. In other words, the negativities that the employee is under the influence of due to occupational hygiene can be put on the agenda as a cause of occupational disease in the future. The employer will be held responsible for this situation.
The employer is obliged to keep the occupational hygiene measurements, tests and analyzes made by authorized institutions for 10 years due to its material and moral responsibilities. This period can be extended depending on the negative effect.
In the measurements to be made, it is important to provide information about the impact sources for the plans to be made by the authorized institution and the measurements to be notified to the ministry in terms of measurement accuracy and costs. The authorized institution should ensure, together with the employer, that the necessary measures are taken for results that fall outside the determined limit values. During these studies, the support of the occupational health and safety team, which is closely familiar with the work environment, is very important.
