Occupational safety laws and practices in our country are made in line with the European Union harmonization laws. While it covers most of the working life, there are still issues that are in transition. The adaptation of the society and the business world to the new systems and the formation of the necessary infrastructure have been completed to a large extent. The laws of high-importance issues are in effect. The Ministry, on the other hand, conducts inspections at regular intervals in case of notification or in case of an accident. Occupational safety in large facilities has become the agenda and the relevant laws have been completed, as it has a great risk potential for both employees and possible environmental effects. However, there are still deficiencies in periodic check-ups, occupational diseases and qualification training. Large industrial facilities are evaluated in two levels as Lower Level Establishments and Upper Level Institutions. your facilities; The quantities and hazard dimensions of the materials used, stored and shipped determine this distinction. The purpose of the published laws and practices is to prevent major accidents and to prevent or minimize the damage to the environment and people in the event of a major accident.
All hazard risks in the facility are examined and accident scenarios are studied. Major Accident Scenario Document and Major Accident Prevention Policy Document are prepared by evaluating dangerous equipment, substances, hazards that may occur with external effects, dangerous substances, dangerous operations, possible spreading, fire and explosions within these scenarios. If the facility is in the status of a high-level institution, it should prepare a Safety Report. In case of an associated change that may occur in the facility, these documents are updated according to the new situation. Apart from these, other works in the facility such as emergency plans, risk analyzes, exercises and trainings progress within the content and period determined by the laws. Prepared documents should be notified to relevant institutions such as Organized Industry Administration, Ministry, Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate, Provincial Health Directorate and Municipality. The Ministry receives all information and notifications through its website.
In the event of a major accident, drills are very important so that authorized persons can act correctly and quickly. Drills are carried out by trained emergency response teams according to the prepared emergency plan. Major accidents occurring in large industrial facilities are reported to the Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency and intervened in a coordinated manner. Relevant firefighters, rescue teams and health teams will provide support.
